Mount Washington Elementary Parents Construct Edible Garden

Three new redwood planters will serve 6th-grade and 2nd-grade students.

A group of Mount Washington Elementary parents volunteered on Wednesday to participate in the fourth phase of construction of the school’s edible garden.

Located in the schoolyard, the project involved the construction of three new redwood planters to serve sixth grade and second grade students. Fencing was extended to enclose the garden and protect plants from playground activity. Soil will be delivered Monday to fill the planters.

The parent volunteers included Shawn Moran and his work crew, Rony and Nery; Susanne Foldes and Doug Young; Will Zakis; Victor Toledo; Jonathon Valdez; and Krista Ebert.
