Volunteers Sought for Franklin Community Festival

Adult volunteers are needed for the festival, which will be held on Oct. 22, to help direct traffic and oversee games.

The third annual Community Festival has already lined up some great musical acts, games and activities; now they just need a few more volunteers.

The free festival, "Celebrating Diversity and History," will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on the Franklin High School football field.

Featured performers include former Beach Boys percussionist Bobby Figueroa, who'll performing with his band, Corazon Pacifico. Also performing throughout the event will be local groups Haywire, Forgive, The Mole Company and folklorico groups.

According to coordinator Teri Bonsell, adult volunteers are still needed to help wrangle all that the festival has to offer the community.

Bonsell said adult volunteers are most needed in the morning to direct traffic and assist with the set up of resource booths. Throughout the day, adult volunteers are also needed to monitor games and oversee the distribution of prizes.

Those who want to help coordinate this year's festival are also welcomed to attend a planning meeting, which will be held today (Friday, Sept. 30) at 2 p.m. in the principal's conference room at Franklin High School.
