's football squad invites the community to a pancake breakfast to be held on Saturday, April 21 from 8-11 a.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club at 1596 Yosemite Drive.
Tickets for the breakfast are $5 and all proceeds will go toward supporting the football team.
With LAUSD facing deep funding reductions across the board in 2012/2013, Franklin supporter Paul Bonsell said that boosters are doing whatever they can to help the team sustain.
"We are trying to get creative with fundraising and a pancake breakfast is one of the ideas that we really liked," Bonsell said.
The money will help the team purchase pads, athletic tape, cleats and other safety equipment, Bonsell said.
"This is for the athletes' safety," Bonsell said. "These are the basic supplies they use throughout the year."
Bonsell said that, for those looking to support public education, Franklin Football was a worthy cause.
"It's not just about sports. We try to help the kids keep their GPA up and get them into college," he said.
Franklin will kick of its football season on August 23 against South Pasadena High School.
