York Park Planning Workshop on Tuesday

In the last and final of 3 meetings, attendees get to develop three design themes based on their preferred layout.

The office of Councilmember José Huizar and the Los Angeles Department of Recreation & Parks are scheduled to hold the second in a planned series of workshops on Tuesday aimed at designing York Park, the latest addition to L.A.’s so-called “50 Parks Initiative,” located on a quarter-acre piece of vacant land on the corner of York Boulevard and Avenue 50, near the border of Highland Park and Eagle Rock.

According to a communiqué from the CD 14 area office for Highland Park and Eagle Rock, the Oct. 29 workshop will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Buchanan Elementary School, 5024 Buchanan St.

The most recent workshop on Sept. 26 focused on design drafts created by community members at the first workshop in August at Burbank Middle School. This time around, attendees will choose their preferred layout and develop three design themes for the layout, according to communiqué.

Tuesday's event will be the last workshop but not the final opportunity for community members to be heard, the communiqué said.
