Mother Jones Gives Nod to Highland Park Startup

Mother Jones has listed Pop Hop Books & Curio in Highland Park among its 10 favorite Kickstarter campaigns.

With only 12 days remaining in their Kickstarter campaign to raise startup funds for a used bookshop in Highland Park, the owners of Pop Hop Books & Curio have recieved a boost from a national publication.

Mother Jones magazine has listed Pop Hop among its 10 favorite Kickstarter Projects to donate to for the Holidays.

Considering the dire plight of independent bookstores, perhaps the bookworm in your life would appreciate a donation on her behalf to this new books/zines/collectibles store and arts space in LA.

According to Sarah Balcomb, a Highland Park resident who is working with partner Robey Clark to open the new business, Pop Hop Books & Curio "will be a creative retail space merging a bookshop and print studio, which will offer workshops, classes, talks, readings, performances and other creative programs.

"Our goal is to make it a place that fosters inspiration and action in equal measure," Balcomb said.
