Police Investigate Reported Rape of Oxy Student on Range View Avenue

School officials say the alleged assailant is also a student at the school.

Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Division officers are investigating a reported rape of an Occidental College student that occurred just after midnight on Sunday.

Occidental College is conducting its own investigation into the incident, in addition to LAPD's investigation.

No arrests have been reported.

According CBS Los Angeles, the rape occurred near the 4900 block of Range View Avenue.

The street, which is near but not on the college's campus, includes student housing and a fraternity.

"The rape had nothing to do with the college, other than the fact that the victim was a student," LAPD Northeast Division Officer Bruce Borianh told Patch on Thursday afternoon.

Borianh added that the incident was not a "stranger-rape," meaning that victim and the alleged assailant knew each other.

He added that police have identified the alleged assailant.

Jim Tranquada, a spokesman for Occidental College, said that the alleged assailant is a student at the school.

He said that Occidental students were made aware of the incident via e-mail, but that no extra security measures were being taken at the school given the nature of the attack.

"Since it involves two of our students, it doesn't seem to be the type of situation where extra security would be put in place," Tranquada said.

The original version of this story reported that the incident occurred on Rangeview Drive, the correct name is Range View Avenue. We regret the error.

Church members want peace and quiet in their own homes but the freedom to force religion on others.Read More And, they want the freedom to force noise into other people's homes. Anyone from Divine Saviour want some noise forced into their home like some banging metal pans?

Jesse is fine. He is campaining for Cedilllo. Neither have ran away. Both have appreciated myRead More help in campaining for Cedillo. His eyeliner must have faded away. All that matters is that he will do more than "no way, Jose" has done in 12 years with "do nothing, Ed Reyes." My problem is not with bells, it is with the noise (amplified sound) from Divine Saviour Catholic Church. You need to get your facts straight. Noise is a mental issue. Divine Saviour Catholic Church is the one with a mental issue. They are hypocrites that they want to force noise on others then they themselves want peace and quiet. Get the facts.
