Police Arrest Suspected Car Thief After Foot Chase

The suspect was arrested near the Superior Grocers.

An alleged car thief led LAPD Northeast officers on a brief pursuit on foot Thursday morning before being arrested near the Superior Grocers

According to Lieutenant Carlos Solano of LAPD Northeast, police attempted to pull over the driver of a motor vehicle in Highland Park on Thursday at about 9:30 a.m. after scanning the license plate and determining that it had been reported stolen.

According to a witness report, the driver of the vehicle attempted to drive away from the officers along Marmion Way, before exiting the vehicle and leading them on a pursuit that eventually ended at around 9:50 a.m. at 4541 N. Figueroa St., near the parking lot of the Superior Grocers.

A female passenger who was riding in the car, who did not attempt to flee the scene, was also arrested.
