Man Struck by Bullets During New Year's Celebration
From City News Service
A man was hospitalized today with gunshot wounds after being struck by bullet fragments that were the remnants of New Year's celebratory gunfire.
The unidentified 30-year-old man was struck on the left side of his face soon after midnight as he stood in the front yard of a residence on the 6800 block of North Figueroa Street, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Wayne Guillary.
Gullary said X-rays revealed bullet fragments lodged inside the man's scalp.
"It seems likely that was from celebratory gunfire that was falling out of the sky," Guillary said.
Guillary said the man was expected to be released from the hospital later today.
