LAPD Arrests Man For Threats Made at Food 4 Less

The man was in possession of a replica rifle, police said.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Division arrested a man at approximately noon on Wednesday for allegedly threatening someone with a replica gun in the parking lot of Food 4 Less on 5100 N. Figueroa St.

According Sergeant Edward Perez, the man "made a threat to injure an individual, and there was a mention of a firearm."

LAPD squad cars and helicopters responded to the scene.

Perez said the man was found living in a mobile trailer in the Food 4 Less parking lot, where he was found to be in possession of a replica Airsoft gun, which resembled a shotgun or rifle.

"He was arrested without any incident," Perez said.

The man, whose age was not provided, was arrested on charges of criminal threats.

Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Division requested on its Twitter account at 10:52 a.m. on Wednesday that residents stay away from Avenue 50 and North Figueroa, as police activity is ongoing.

@NortheastArea tweeted "#LAPD police activity at Figueroa & Ave 50 (Highland Park). Please stay away from area."

An officer at LAPD Northeast Division's front desk confirmed that police were looking for a man with a gun.
