Firefighters Knock Down Blaze in Highland Park Garage

The fire erupted behind a two-story apartment building on 5739 Benner St.

A fire erupted in a garage in Highland Park Thursday and 42 firefighters from nearby stations knocked it down in 20 minutes, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Brian Humphrey said.

Nobody was injured in the blaze, which occurred in a converted garage behind a two-story apartment building on 5739 Benner St., located between South Avenue 57 and South Avenue 58, off Figueroa Street. 

The LAFD got a call about the fire at 12:46 p.m., Humphrey said, adding that the probable cause of the fire as well as the estimated damage caused would likely be known by the evening.
