Firefighters today rescued two people and two dogs from an island of shrubbery in the middle of the rain-swollen Los Angeles River near Cypress Park.

Rescuers were sent at 9:10 a.m. to the river near the 1500 block of Elm Street, Los Angeles police Officer Rosario Herrera said.

The rescue was accomplished in about an hour, and no injuries were reported, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

You can lead a jack ass to water but you can't let him sink.

You should use the Los Angeles Fire Department logo. Their swift water rescue team was the one that got the men and dogs out of the water. As I told a firefighter friend. "Be grateful for stupid people. They are job security."
