According to their website, La Cuevita will be a "A new, Old-World Mexican grotto set in the heart of the Highland Park, featuring traditional agave spirits. The bar showcases an impressive selection of tequilas and mescals while also featuring the same type of distinctive concoctions and spirits that the 1933 Group team has become known for around the city."

Over the last year, passersby have witnessed the Little Cave's exterior morph several times. Its brick facade was removed, exposing the decades-old Highland Hofbrau sign. In recent weeks, it's undergone several plaster and paint jobs. As of Friday, La Cuevita finally sports what looks to be its finished look, complete with windows (always a plus, just ask the patrons of Marty's/Café Lobos/HPK), wood tile facade and a new sign.

Bar-hoppers will have their chance to look around inside La Cuevita tonight, as the bar will celebrate its grand reopening/Cinco de Mayo with $2 Tecate beginning at 9 p.m.

Even if you're not a bar patron, chances are you'll pass by 5922 N. Figueroa St. fairly often. So what do you think of what the owners have done with the place? Do you like the new look?
