Weekend Highlights: Seedling Giveaway, Debs Park Cleanup, Art and Dogs

Opportunities to better know your neighbors and neighborhood abound.

Looking to fill your weekend with engaging, instructive and entertaining events without leaving the neighborhood? There's no shortage of events planned for Saturday and Sunday in the area.

Saturday:

Those who enjoy hiking at Debs Park and would like to help it keep looking pristine are to be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday. Meet at 4700 N. Griffin Avenue. Fresh fruit and refreshments will be provided by . Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves.

For first time gardeners and green thumbs alike, the at 110 N. Ave. 56 will host its first " Young Folks will be giving away a variety of different plants, as well as imparting some knowledge about how to help them flourish in your garden. The giveaway will run from noon until 3 p.m.

Sunday:

Looking to bond with other dog owners? Look no further than the Hermon Dog Park, which will hold it's at 5 p.m. on Sunday. In addition to mingling with other dog owner, attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about the benefits of becoming a full fledged member of the Friends of the Hermon Dog Park.

All Weekend:

There's still time to view the prints of Highland Park artist Sonia Romero. Her latest show, , which feature prints inspired by life in Los Angeles, is showing at Ave. 50 Studio. Walk-ins are welcome between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekends.
