NELA Art's Micro Grant Competition Bumped By Oscars

After January's at Restaurant Ba was one of Highland Park's hottest tickets--netting more than $400 from attendees, who came out to support soup and local art--NELAart Director Cathi Milligan scheduled a follow up event for Sunday, Feb. 26 at Anatomy Fitness Studio.

However, a significantly more prominent Los Angeles party--the 84th Annual Academy Awards--has prompted Milligan to reschedule the event for Sunday, March 18 at the .

A scheduling conflict with the entire City of Los Angeles has prompted NELAart to shift the Sunday February 26 event, when everybody will be watching TV, to March 18 at the Center for the Arts.  

Desserts from several local famed bakeries will be served. There will be vegan pastries as well as more traditional treats. So come after  
dinner, or instead of dinner, and plan to be delighted. The  
presentations will be a mix of traditional and startling art projects:  
dance, music, and theater, and the audience of sweetened patrons will choose their favorite, who takes home the micro-grant. 

March's presenters include World Sounds, a reality TV travel show about world music;  McGroarty Music Summer School,  an 8-week summer music course for elementary age students; A Project for Disastrous Success,  a performance piece that explores cause-and effect and the processes of observation and reaction and Artists for Action,  a project through which “Artivists” present positive and peaceful approaches toward resolving cultural tension.
