Local Climbs Listed Among LA's Best

There are no shortage of secret stairways in Northeast L.A. that rank among the city's best.

Looking for a great weekend climb? The Los Angeles Times recently enlisted Charles Fleming, a Times editor and author of Secret Stairs: A Walking Guide to the Historic Staircases of Los Angeles, to list some of his favorite hidden stairways in Los Angeles.

It will probably come as no surprise to NELA bipeds that a few local climbs made the list.

Coming in at number 7 are the Eldred Street Stairs in Mount Washington. The historic wooden stairway offers 196 steps, starting at 4864 Eldred Street. You'll have to do some climbing to get there.
