Jimmy Gomez Hosts Fruit Tree Giveaway

Along with Million Trees L.A., the state assemblyman distributes some 200 five-gallon trees in Highland Park.

When scores of people queue up on a weekend under a scorching sun to get a freebie, you can bet that the giveaway is something special.

That’s what happened Saturday in a Highland Park, where long lines of people could be seen in the parking lot of Superior Grocers to get their share of some 200 five-gallon, cherry, avocado and plum trees, reports Eastsider L.A.

The four-foot-tall saplings were given away as part of a tree adoption drive organized by Million Trees L.A. and California Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez, whose campaign office for last year’s 51st Assembly District election was on North Figueroa Street in Highland Park.
