1. Rec & Parks community meeting

The Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks is scheduled to host a community meeting and budget discussion today, Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Ramona Hall, one of 15 locations for similar meetings across the city. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and is aimed at giving local residents an opportunity to provide valuable community input and comments about issues related to the department. The idea is to allow the department to determine ways to increase its annual budget for operations and maintenance over the next five years. Click here to participate in an online survey of local community needs pertaining to the Department of Recreation and Parks.

Mark your calendars: The Kiwanis Club of Highland Park is scheduled to hold its weekly board meeting on Thursday, Dec. 5, to conduct its annual installation of officers and directors, honor longtime club secretary and treasurer Patrick Liddell, and thank a number of  people who helped organize Sunday’s 69th Annual Northeast Los Angeles Holiday Parade. The Kiwanis will meet as usual at Milo Terrace Baptist Church Community Room, 754 N. Avenue 50, from noon to 1:30 p.m. The meeting is free; lunch is $5 at the door. As always, attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas for a better Highland Park.
