HHPNC, Kiwanis Meet, Mt. Washington Elementary CPK Fundraiser

1. Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council meeting

The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council is scheduled to hold its monthly board meeting tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 16, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Highland Park Adult Senior Citizen Center, located at 6152 N. Figueroa St. The meeting is open to the public and Highland Park residents are particularly encouraged to attend. Stay tuned for the meeting's agenda.

2. Mount Washington Elementary California Pizza Kitchen fundraiser

Mark your calendars: The annual Mount Washington Elementary School fundraiser at the California Pizza Kitchen located at 101 N. Brand Blvd. is scheduled on Thursday, Jan. 16. Join friends, family and neighbors for a fun dinner out, starting at 7:25 p.m. The school on the hill will receive a 20-percent donation from your purchases, including dine-in, take-out, catering and all beverages. Make sure to bring your CPK flyer, if you have one—otherwise, just be there.

3. Kiwanis Club meeting

Mark your calendars: The Kiwanis Club of Highland Park is scheduled to hold its weekly board meeting on Thursday, Jan. 16, The Kiwanis will meet as usual at Milo Terrace Baptist Church Community Room, 754 N. Avenue 50, from noon to 1:30 p.m. The meeting is free; lunch is $5 at the door. As always, attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas for a better Highland Park.

4. Kung Fu at Mount Washington Elementary

Mark your calendars: Mount Washington Elementary School is reintroducing kung fu classes, starting Friday, Jan. 17 through April 11. The second session of these classes will begin at 2:45 p.m. All returning and new students will be taught new techniques aimed at building self confidence and physical as well as mental strength.
