2. Highland Park Old L.A. Certified Farmers' Market & Outdoor Fair
Highland Park's weekly Farmers' Market is scheduled on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Avenue 57 and Marmion Way, adjacent to the Metro Gold Line. This is a special kind of market: Proceeds go to the North Figueroa Association, a nonprofit group that will use the money for the security, cleanliness and improvement of the North Fig corridor and community. And this month, for the whole of October, Mardy's Munchies, the Montecito Heights bakery, will be donating 10 percent of all its proceeds from sales at the farmers' market to Aldama Elementary School. Councilmember Gil Cedillo is scheduled to host the next leg of his ongoing Listening Tour in Council District 1, this time for the neighborhoods of Cypress Park and Glassell Park. The Neighborhood Council Alliance of River Communities, which represents 14 regional neighborhood councils actively concerned about the betterment of the Los Angeles River and the Arroyo Seco, is scheduled to conduct its monthly meeting starting at 7 p.m. onThursday, Oct. 24, at the Glassell Park Community and Senior Center, located at 3750 N.
