2. Kiwanis Club meeting
Mark your calendars: The Kiwanis Club of Highland Park is scheduled to hold its weekly board meeting on Thursday, Nov. 14. The Kiwanis will meet as usual at Milo Terrace Baptist Church Community Room, 754 N. Avenue 50, from noon to 1:30 p.m. The meeting is free; lunch is $5 at the door. As always, attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas for a better Highland Park.

Mark your calendars: A Hermon Local Issues meeting of the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council is scheduled on Thursday, Nov. 14, starting at 7 p.m. at the Fellowship Center, 5800 Monterey Rd. (at Wheeling Way). Hermon veterans are expected to be honored at the meeting. Speakers include Los Angeles Police Department Senior Lead Officer John Pedroza, David Meza of the Gas Co., Pastor Arnaldo Soto of the Hermon Church, Antonio Castillo of the Highland Park Heritage Trust, and Jon Murga of Fresco Market. Attendees are encouraged to bring a couple of cans of food for the "sharing table" meant for local food banks for the holidays.
