UPDATED: One Man Dead, One in Critical Condition After Cypress Park Shooting

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the shooting is gang-related.

UPDATE: Sgt. Douglas Bowler of the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Division confirmed the names of the shooting victims. Jose Antonio Madera, 19, of Los Angeles, died in the early morning shooting. The man in critical condition has been identified 19-year-old Christopher Rodriguez.

Previously: A 19-year-old Latino man is dead and another man is in critical condition following an early Saturday morning shooting in the 2000 block of West Isabel Street in Cypress Park, according to the Sgt. Sanford Rosenberg of the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Station.

Rosenberg also confirmed that the shooting, which happened shortly before 1 a.m., is gang-related.

The incident followed an even earlier that left one man in critical condition after he was shot in the back running away from his pursuers. But the victim, whose name has not been released, has no gang ties, according to Sgt. Michael Maibe of Rampart Division.
