Updated: Homicide Reported in Highland Park

LAPD Northeast Station reported a homicide in Highland Park on Sunday.

A man was killed in Highland Park Sunday, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Enrique Ponce.

Police say that  Ponce was approached by two suspected gang members near Avenue 51 and Marmion Way around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

A fight ensued after one of the suspects pulled out a gun and Ponce was shot once in the back, according to a LAPD press release.

Ponce was pronounced dead upon arrival at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, police said.

Northeast homicide detectives are currently investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.
