'Violence Girl' Book Talk, Neighborhood Council Meeting

1. 'Violence Girl' Alice Bag book talk

Alice Bag, author of “Violence Girl: East L.A. Rage to Hollywood Stage—A Chicana Punk Story,” a memoir that describes how a first-generation Mexican-American girl from an East L.A. barrio participated in the birth of the 1970s punk rock movement, will talk about her book at the Cypress Park Public Library starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 1150 Cypress Ave., 90065, (323) 224-0039.

2. Neighborhood Council meeting

The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council is scheduled to hold its monthly board meeting on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Highland Park Adult Senior Citizen Center, located at 6152 N. Figueroa St.

3. Highland Park Old L.A. Certified Farmers' Market & Outdoor Fair

Highland Park's weekly Farmers' Market is scheduled on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Avenue 57 and Marmion Way, adjacent to the Metro Gold Line. This is a special kind of market: Proceeds go to the North Figueroa Association, a nonprofit group that will use the money for the security, cleanliness and improvement of the North Fig corridor and community. 4. Food Truck Feast

Highland Park’s weekly food truck feast unfolds at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the parking lot in front of the former Figueroa Produce building, located at 6312 N. Figueroa St. Food trucks from across Los Angeles are expected to be there until 9 p.m. Stay tuned for details.
