Back to School Amid ‘Big Changes, Challenges’

1. Back to School

LAUSD schools start classes on Tuesday, Aug. 13, after the summer break. There are some “big changes, challenges” ahead for the school district, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

3. ASNC Monterey Hills Local Issues Committee

The newly reformed Monterey Hills Local Issues Committee of the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council is scheduled to conduct the first of its monthly meetings, with David Lyttle as chair, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Marshall Villas Recreation Room, located at 4224 Via Arbolada, 90042.

4. Food Truck Feast

Highland Park’s weekly food truck feast unfolds at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, in the parking lot in front of the former Figueroa Produce building, located at 6312 N. Figueroa St. At least half-a-dozen food trucks from across Los Angeles are expected to be there until 9 p.m.

5. Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council

The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council is scheduled to conduct the second of its monthly board meetings on Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Senior Citizens Center, located at 6152 N. Figueroa St.
