El Plan Del Southwest Museum Task Force to Meet Wednesday

The Sept. 11 meeting at the Glassell Park Senior Center follows last month's debut gathering in Mt. Washington.

A second meeting to discuss the longterm sustainability of the Southwest Museum is scheduled Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Glassell Park Senior Center, 3750 Verdugo Rd. 90065.

The meeting is a follow-up from the Aug. 29 gathering of about 90 people who attended the so-called El Plan Del Southwest Museum Task Force held at the Mount Washington Elementary School, according to Gabriel Buelna, one of the task force’s key organizers.

At last month’s meeting, a representative of the Autry National Center gave a presentation about the diversity of the museum's collection, and community members from across Northeast Los Angeles discuss the museum's future.

Buelna asks that those who attended the Aug. 29 meeting take the time to review documents given to them, and that they come prepared with thoughts and ideas. For those who missed the meeting, the documents can also be found online at http://www.elplan.org.

Simultaneous translations in Spanish will be available. Questions? Call (323) 243-3549. Or e-mail Buelna at gbuelna@sbcglobal.net.
