Spring Sports Kick Off at Franklin

The Panthers Baseball team is 2-1-1 through four games.

Spring sports are just getting underway at Franklin high school, as boys volleyball, baseball, and softball are all in action this week.

Baseball

After three games, Franklin has experienced all the results there are: winning two, losing one and tying another.

The Panthers kicked off their season with a 9-9 tie against Grant and then lost to University 9-2. But they were able to bounce back, beating Van Nuys 3-1. On Monday, Franklin made it two in a row, defeating Gardena 5-4. The team is keeping busy this week with games against Washington on Wednesday and West Adams Prep on Friday.

Softball

The softball team traveled to San Gabriel to kick off its season in the Lincoln Classic. There the Panthers split their matchups, losing to Mission 6-3 but defeating Marantha 10-1. Leanne Rodriguez had a team high four RBIs as part of an eight-run fourth inning. Franklin continued its hot streak on offense on Monday, defeating South Gate 18-4. The Panthers got RBIs from 10 different players in the win.

The Panthers host Bravo on Wednesday, before continuing play in the Lincoln Classic this weekend.

Volleyball

The Franklin boys volleyball team kicked off its season with a loss on the road to University. The eight-man squad fell 3-1. The Panthers travel to Roosevelt on Friday afternoon and start Northern League play next week against Marshall.
