Antonovich: No Half-Price Alcohol for Dodgers' Throwback Days

The supervisor called for "tighter controls" at a press conference Monday, according to a release from his office, citing the aftermath of a fan's brutal beating.

This year, the Dodgers' baseball schedule calls for six "throwback" days, when fans are treated to reto uniforms and beer prices that harken back to a bygone era.

But on Monday, Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich said those cheap beers need to remain a thing of the past.

A release from Antonovich's office Monday said the supervisor called for the Dodgers to scrap plans to sell alcohol at half-price during the season's six "throwback" days: April 21, May 4, June 15, June 22, Aug. 10 and Aug. 31.

The request was one of several from Antonovich who called for "tighter controls" to "restore the public trust" following the beating of Bryan Stow, the Giants fan who was attacked by two men outside of the stadium following the team's opening day game on Thursday, March 31.

Stow is still in a medically induced coma.

According to the release, Antonovich also called for employing additional security personnel, enhanced parking lot lighting in the parking lot, smaller alcohol containers, kicking out intoxicated, bullying fans and providing hand stamps for those who have already bought alcohol.
