School Board Race: Bennett Kayser Leading in Polls

update: With 85 percent of precincts reporting, Bennett Kayser now holds a 53-percent to 47-percent lead over opponent Luis Sánchez in the polls in the race for LAUSD local district 5.

According to the Los Angeles City Clerk's office, as of 8:29 p.m. on Tuesday evening, LAUSD candidate Bennett Kayser held a sizable lead over his opponent Luis Sánchez in race for the local district 5 seat.

The clerk's office reported that Kayser had earned 63.69 percent of the vote (a total of 4,358 votes) as opposed to Sánchez, who had so far earned 36.1 percent of the vote (a total of 2,484 votes).

As of the most recent count, the clerk's office reported that slightly less than 3-percent of the total ballots had been counted.
