Got the Munchies? Make Mardy’s Munchies Your Farmers’ Market Destination

The Montecito Heights-based bakery will be donating 10 percent of its sales from Tuesday's Farmers' Market to Aldama Elementary.

Got the munchies?

It’s the perfect day for those hunger pangs: Head over to the Montecito Heights-based Mardy’s Munchies stall at the weekly Highland Park “Old L.A.” Certified Farmers’ Market and munch all you want on bakery chef and owner Steve Rossen’s vegan chocolate chip cookies or Punk Mama’s Red Velvet cake to die for.

Just one caveat—or rather, make that two: First, make the trip at or soon after 3 p.m. because, even though the Farmers’ Market remains open until 8 p.m., Mardy’s Munchies tends to run out of goodies fairly early.

Second, remember to mention Aldama Elementary School when you make your purchase because Mardy’s Munchies will be donating 10 percent of all proceeds from the Old L.A. Farmers’ Market sales to Aldama’s PTA, according to PTA President Monica Alcaraz. The PTA will be using the funds to support the school’s popular Playworks structured play program and other projects, Alcaraz said.

Those who can’t make it to the Farmers’ Market on Avenue 57 and Marmion Way today needn’t worry. Mardy’s Munchies is devoting the entire month of October to help raise funds for Aldama Elementary.
