Students in the Recycling & Resource Management program at Santa Monica College will soon publish a Student’s Guide to Zero Waste at Santa Monica College.
The first-of-its-kind guide will consist of easy-to-use tips and a primer on zero waste that can help students--and everybody else--save money while saving our planet.
Tips show how to easily reduce, reuse and recycle for water, materials, energy and more. It will come as text, slideshow and a series of fun video public service announcements prepared by the participating students.
The video public service announcements will be featured as video blogs on the CEUS website/Facebook site. The Guide will also premiere at a celebrity eco-benefit event entitled “Cut the Plastics.”
Reducing our usage of plastics, which often end up discarded and are a major contributor to ocean pollution, is a great way to achieve zero waste and save money.
The benefit will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the Improv Theater at 8162 Melrose Ave. in Hollywood from 7-9:30 p.m. The benefit show will include special performers, red carpet celebrities and a holiday auction to benefit SMC Center for Environmental & Urban Studies. For tickets and/or for more information, call (323) 651-2583. Tickets are regularly priced at $15; and $10 for students over 18 years with Student ID.
