What’s Your Favorite Design For York Park?

Councilmember José Huizar and the Department of Rec & Parks want to know.

After a string of well-attended recent community meetings since the summer, a plan to build a park on a quarter-acre vacant lot on the corner of York Boulevard and Avenue 50 is finally getting underway.

There’s just one last “hurdle”—the plan needs your vote. Soon.

As you probably know, in 2010, Councilmember José Huizar’s unveiled his “York Vision Plan,” part of which was a public-backed proposal to build a park on 4956 York Boulevard, adjacent to Café de Leche in Highland Park.

Earlier this week, Huizar’s office and the Department of Recreation and Parks, launched an online drive to secure people’s vote for which of three designs they’d like to see implemented in the construction of York Park.

Members of the public have until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 to vote, either online or in person at the site. Those who wish to vote online may start by clicking here and viewing the three design plans. Click on the design plans to enlarge them for better viewing.
