Video: Jose Huizar Speaks to Community at HHPNC Forum

The council member answered questions regarding fire department brownouts, gangs at Luther Burbank Middle School and Highland Park's fair share of city services.

With city council elections only three weeks away, Council District 14 incumbent Jose Huizar turned his attention to Highland Park voters on Thursday during a public forum hosted by the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council.

Huizar, who earned the of La Opinion, the city's largest Spanish Speaking newspaper, earlier in the week while at the same time being criticized in the piece for his lack of commitment to the Northeast sector of his district, attempted to stress his recent record of accomplishment in the neighborhoods of Highland Park and Eagle Rock.

Community members had voiced their concerns about cuts to the city's graffiti abatement program, burgeoning gang issues at Luther Burbank Middle School and cuts the fire department's budget which have led to daily brownouts of fire stations.
