Redistricting Forum at Senior Center Tonight

Highland Park and Mount Washington residents are welcome to discuss redistricting questions.

Northeast Los Angeles residents will on Thursday evening have the opportunity to weigh in on the City Council Redistricting Commission's recently released draft map, which will determine the shape of city politics for the decade to come.

Through the proposed map, the majority of Highland park would be unified in Council District 1, which the neighborhood of Garvanza remaining in Council District 14.

Mount Washington residents, who are welcomed to attend the HHPNC meeting, could also see a major shift in council boundaries.

Should the new council district maps be approved, Mount Washington would shift almost entirely from Council District 14 to Council District 1--save for a portion from Division Street spanning east to El Paso Drive, which would be retained by CD 14.

Currently, Mount Washington is mostly encapsulated by Council District 14, with the southwestern portion represented by Council District 1.
