Neighborhood Council to Consider Transit Village, Coptic Church Recommendations

The land use committee has stated its opposition to both projects.

The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Highland Park Adult Senior Citizen Center. On the agenda are two recently passed recommendations from the board's land use committee to oppose a pair of major developments proposed for the neighborhood.

In a meeting convened at the Hathaway Sycamores Resource Center in Garvanza on Wednesday, the land use committee passed motions expressing opposition to both the Highland Park Transit Village and Holy Virgin Mary Orthodox Coptic Church's proposed 62-unit senior living facility.

In both cases, the committee stated that scale and density of the projects were not appropriate for the community.
