Football Funding on Tonight's HHPNC Agenda

Council will discuss proposal to help Franklin football team buy uniforms, consider a letter of support for a gang intervention program and schedule a redistricting meeting.

Discussion of Joe Carmona's Peace Warriors program has dominated the last two HHPNC meetings. On Thursday evening, the board is scheduled to approve a final letter of support for Carmona's gang intervention program.

At previous meetings, board members have expressed concern over Carmona's difficulty in clearly explaining how he will run the Peace Warriors program.

Football Funding

The HHPNC will consider a proposal to donate $1,500 to the Athletic Department to help the football team purchase new uniforms. The HHPNC has been in the past, but is faced with a reduced budget for the current fiscal year.

The council has also discussed setting for the allocation of neighborhood purposes grants, but has yet to agree on what the spending cap should be.

Redistricting Forum

The HHPNC will consider inviting selected redistricting commissioners from Los Angeles City Council districts 1 and 14 to participate in a forum on the lateset effort redraw the city's political boundaries.
