Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council

The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council will meet on Thursday, Sept. 20 from 7-9 p.m. inside the Highland Park Adult Senior Citizen Center at 6152 N. Figueroa St.


Thursday's meeting will feature a presentation from Luther Burbank Principal Arturo Valdez, who will discuss recent academic successes at the middle school. 


The neighborhood council will also consider several funding requests, including $3,800 to help fund a pay to pay for a part-time music teacher at Yorkdale Elementary School, $1,500 to support the annual Lummis Day Festival, $1,500 to help the Franklin High School girls cheerleading squad attend a national competition in Las Vegas, $1,500 to the Haggus Society to fund a print campaign to promote local monthly art exhibitions and programming in Highland Park and $1,500 to the Hathaway Sycamores Harvest Festival.
