    1. 6TH ANNUAL NORTHEAST LOS ANGELES VETERANS DAY PARADE PROGRAM AD (All Communities • Outreach)
Motion to purchase full page ad for $300. Press run is 1000 copies, distributed along parade route, at VIP luncheon and at the Solemn Ceremony and additional locations upon request,  [Ariel van Zandeweghe, Communications & Outreach]

    2. HERMON HARVEST FESTIVAL OCTOBER 31 (All Communities • Festival)
Moved that the ASNC provide up to $1,200 in community project/festivals funds to help fund the Annual Hermon Community Harvest Festival.  Funds will go towards the rental of game booths/carnival games from Fun Serves.

    3. LOCAL ISSUES MEETING OUTREACH (All Communities • Outreach)
The ASNC Board should set aside and authorize Local Issues committee chairs and conveners to spend up to
$150 per meeting (to a maximum of $600 per community) –- $225 for Mt. Washington (to a maximum of $900), due to its relative size -- from the Outreach 2011-2012 budget item (sub-category “election” and “advertising”) for broader stakeholder outreach through mailings, flyers, ads, banners, etc., as meeting organizers find most useful in promoting broader participation at each community’s Local Issues Committee. Maximum total allocation to be $3300.

    4. URBAN RANCHO, A SUSTAINABLE GARDEN PARTY OCTOBER 15 (All Communities • Education)
Moved that the ASNC provide $1,000 for a day-long program of workshops and presentations on sustainable gardening and cultivation, Saturday October 15,  10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lummis Home. Attendee donations benefit the garden at Lummis Home. Co-sponsored by Council District 1 (with outreach materials and facility provisions) and Montecito Heights Improvement Association (with recyclables). Funds to used for outreach ($250), workshop material (seeds, soil, clay $150),  facility staff time ($300), speaker fees ($300). [Ariel van Zandeweghe, Sycamore Grove Local Issues]

    5. MONTEREY HILLS JAZZ FESTIVAL OCTOBER 15 (All Communities • Festival)
Motion to allocate $2500 in community projects funds to support Monterey Hills Jazz Festival on 10/15/11.  Co-sponsors include Monterey Hills Federation, City Council District 14, CRA, local merchants.  This 16th annual all-day event features live music, dancing, activities for children, food & artisan vendors, and outreach from community organizations. XII.    Adjournment.

Funding requests: Unless otherwise stated in the approved motion, any funds appropriated for community projects as a result of this meeting’s actions: (1) will be drawn from the 2011-12 ASNC budget; and, (2) under ASNC standing rules, under ASNC standing rules, expenditure of any such funds must begin WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF APPROVAL BY THE BOARD, or the appropriation will automatically lapse.

The public is requested to fill out a “Speaker Card” to address the Board on any item of the agenda prior to the Board taking action on an item. Comments on Agenda items will be heard only when the respective item is being considered. Comments from the public on other matters not appearing on the Agenda that is within the Board’s subject matter jurisdiction will be heard during the Public Comment period. Public comment is limited to 2 minutes per speaker, unless waived or adjusted in the interest of fairness, by the presiding officer of the Board. The agenda is posted for public review at Mount Washington Elementary School Bulletin Board (3981 San Rafael Ave., 90065), Superior Grocers (133 W. Ave. 45, 90065), Ramona Hall Community Center (4580 N. Figueroa St., 90065) Montecito Heights Recreation Center (4545 Homer St., 90031); Monterey Adult Day Health Care Center (5926 Monterey Rd., 90042), as well as the ASNC’s official Website at www.ASNC.us, and distributed via the ASNCAlert Yahoo Group (opt-in E-mail listserv).
