Coffee on Saturday with Luiz Lopez, 51st Assembly District Candidate

You are invited to meet the director of one of California’s largest nonprofit community health centers.

Not many Northeast L.A. residents were aware that the candidates running for California's 51st Assembly District met at the Glassell Park Recreation Center last month in an effort to distinguish themselves from each other and solicit the public’s support.

Those who missed that event and would have liked to be in attendance, mark you calendars for this coming Saturday, April 14: You are invited to have coffee with Luis Lopez, one of the four candidates, at the Eagle Rock home of Osbaldo Luna and Jonathan Jara.

The invitation is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 4414 Ellenwood Dr. For more information as well as to RSVP your attendance please call Lopez directly at (323) 739-6225. You may also read more about Lopez on his website (www.lopezforassembly.com) by clicking this link.

Lopez, who lives in Eagle Rock, served as co-chair of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council for four years, and is currently president of the East Area Planning Commission.

He is competing in the race with Jimmy Gomez, Arturo Chavez and Oscar Gutierrez. All four candidates are Democrats who have publicly stated their progressive agendas if elected to represent all of Northeast Los Angeles and parts of Echo Park and Silver Lake in the 51st District.

A primary election for the race is scheduled on June 5, and the general election on November 6.

Luna, who is a board member of the , is co-hosting Saturday’s event in his private capacity. He told Eagle Rock Patch that he met Lopez about six months ago and considers him to be “home-grown and more reliable” than the rest of the candidates.

Church members want peace and quiet in their own homes but the freedom to force religion on others.Read More And, they want the freedom to force noise into other people's homes. Anyone from Divine Saviour want some noise forced into their home like some banging metal pans?

Jesse is fine. He is campaining for Cedilllo. Neither have ran away. Both have appreciated myRead More help in campaining for Cedillo. His eyeliner must have faded away. All that matters is that he will do more than "no way, Jose" has done in 12 years with "do nothing, Ed Reyes." My problem is not with bells, it is with the noise (amplified sound) from Divine Saviour Catholic Church. You need to get your facts straight. Noise is a mental issue. Divine Saviour Catholic Church is the one with a mental issue. They are hypocrites that they want to force noise on others then they themselves want peace and quiet. Get the facts.
