Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council Seeks New Members

Interested community members are encouraged to apply by Aug. 16.

According to President Martha Benedict, the council is looking for regional representatives for the communities of Sycamore Grove and Montecito Heights, as well as a Retail, Wholesale and Service Business at-large representative.

Community representatives must live within the areas that they would represent. A .pdf version of the ASNC's bylaws, which includes boundaries for each of the five neighborhoods it comprises, can be downloaded from the media box on the right.

Benedict also stressed that, according to the Department of Neighborhood Engagement, the boundaries encapsulate residents who live on either side of the listed streets.

"If someone lives on the streets listed in the descriptions, then they live within the boundaries," she said.

According to Benedict, applications are due by Tuesday, August 16 for prospective members who want to be considered for by the Monday, August 22 ASNC meeting.

Benedict said the rewards of joining the ASNC are the same as joining any other neighborhood council, "helping your neighbors and helping city government meet the needs of your community."
