According to the Los Angeles Times crime database, violent crime alerts have been triggered in the neighborhood for two consecutive weeks.
The Times report is based on crime data ranging from Wednesday, August 24 to Tuesday, August 30.

During that time, six violent crimes were reported in Highland Park, a marked increase over it's quarterly average of 3.2 violent crimes per week, according to The Times.
A fact sheet provided by The Times states that "an alert is generated if violent and/or property crime reports from the most recent week are up significantly over the average. In order to qualify for an alert, the jump in crime reports must significantly surpass the average week."
