Property crimes spiked significantly in Highland Park last week, according to the Los Angeles Times crime map.
Between Tuesday, Oct. 23 and Monday, Oct. 29, 30 property crimes were reported in the neighborhood, which is more than twice the weekly average.
The Times reports that, of the reported crimes, 13 were thefts from vehicles, five were burglaries, four were thefts and nine were grand-theft-autos.
Increased property crime has been a problem for communities in LAPD's Northeast Division throughout 2012.
In June, Captain William Murphy reported that property crimes were up by 2.5-percent in 2012 compared to 2011, when Northeast was one of the city's leading divisions in crime reduction.
