Police Still Seeking Suspects in Cypress Park Murder
Police believe the homicide was gang related.
Los Angeles Police Department officers are for the suspects responsible for a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning at a residence on the 2000 block Isabel Street in Cypress Park.
According to Detective Jose Carrillo, 19-year-old Jose Antonio Madera was fatally shot shortly before 1 a.m. while while sitting on the front patio of his home on Isabel Street in Cypress Park. A second victim, 19-year-old Christopher Rodriguez, was listed as being in critical condition as a result of gunshot wounds.
Carillio said LAPD Northeast Division is currently working with "several" witnesses, but has yet to make any arrest. He said the two suspects were described as young Latino males with shaved heads.

"It's definitely gang related," Carrillo said. He declined to tell Highland Park-Mount Washington Patch which area gangs LAPD believed were involved in the shooting, though.
"We never give out that kind of information," he said. "We don't want to give them any notoriety."

The incident followed an even earlier that left one man in critical condition after he was shot in the back running away from his pursuers.
Carrillo said that there was no connection between the Cypress Park and Echo Park Shootings.
"Absolutely not," he said. "Not even close."
