Police Seek Suspect in Early Morning Marmion Way Fatal Shooting

One man was shot and killed near the intersection of Marmion Way and Avenue 60.

A man was shot and killed early Monday morning near the corner of Marmion Way and Avenue 60, according to LAPD.

No arrests have been made in the shooting that occurred at around 2:10 a.m. on Monday.

Police learned of shooting after receiving several calls from people who heard the gunfire and one who saw it, said Sgt. M. Campbell of the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Station.

The victim was transported to the hospital by paramedics, where he died as a result of his wounds, according to ABC 7.

Investigators were canvassing the area in search of more witnesses, he said.

We'll have more details on this story as they come in.

Does LAPD have a "reactive" approach to South of York or "proactive?"

That's really sad. I moved away from Highland Park about 5 years ago because of the increase in crime and the "FILTH" on the streets from Ave 50 to Ave 60 as well as Marmion Way. People just don't care how their neighborhood looks anymore! Not to mention the STUPID WORTHLESS gang members who only bring down the neighborhood which is causing home values to dramatically drop! Put it this way. I had to discourage a friend from moving to Highland Park! I now try avoiding Highland Park all together, but it's just sad considering its where I grew up....... :O(

Very sad to continue to hear and see the negative effects of gangs in the area. I just don't see how things can change. As for the comment that property values have dramatically dropped, that is farther from the truth. Since the LA Times had they article about HLP being the next Silverlake several months back, properties values have gone back up through the roof.

Umm, property values are actually going up faster than in the rest of Los Angeles

He was a great person , a young man who's life was taken on his way home , we know u all see the gang members that's all u talk about , but did anyone see the shooter , if anyone seen anything please come forward , as u would want others to do if it was your family

Unfortunately, there is drug dealing going on near the metro station. It occurs at various times. Often with the obvious and familiar profiles of participants. And sometimes it's not who you would think. Many of us who use metro regularly witness this, as others have mentioned above. The exchanges are often blatant and right at the train doors.

Sorry for this loss of a young life, peace and love to his family and friends. I walk through there often at night when I'm done work or coming home from the bar on Figueroa, this is very scary. I hope they catch who did this so our streets are safer and Israel's family may find some peace.
