Police Blotter: Officers Respond to Reports of Shots Fired on Ave. 50

Police say there was "no blood, no body" at the scene.

For the second time this week, Los Angeles Police Department officers went to Avenue 50 on Friday after receiving reports of gunshots being fired in the neighborhood.

Traffic was blocked at the intersection of Malta Street and Avenue 50 from about 5:30 until 6:15 p.m., and a police helicopter flew above the neighborhood as officers looked for any suspect responsible for firing a gun.

Officer Ruben Arello told Highland Park-Mount Washington Patch that officers were unable to track down any evidence of a shooting in the area.

"There's no blood, no body," Arello said.

One resident who was standing near the blocked off area said that reports of gunfire always seem to pick up during the spring and summer months.

"People like to party and shoot their guns off when the weather gets warmer," said the resident, who declined to share his name. "It looks like it's going to be a long summer."
