A pedestrian was struck by a car while crossing in the crosswalk at Avenue 54 and Figueroa Street at around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
According to Officer Alfred Villegas, the accident occurred when the motorist attempted to make a left turn on a green light from Avenue 54 to Figueroa Street. Villegas said the motorist did not see the westbound pedestrian in the crosswalk, who was legally crossing because the "Walk" sign was lit up.
Villegas said the victim was still conscious when paramedics arrived.
"He was bleeding from his nose and his mouth, but he never lost consciousness," Villegas said.
The motorist was not arrested and no citations had been issued as of Wednesday morning, Villegas said.
Patch will post more details as they come in.
