Parent Alert: Man Caught in Lewd Act Near Aldama Elementary

For the second time in a week, a man was seen indecently exposing himself near a school.

Joy Naval sent an alert home to parents on Monday warning them that a man had been seen exposing himself outside the school on Thursday, Oct. 7.

According to the alert, a man in his mid-20s was seen exposing himself at around 4:17 p.m. outside of the school.

Naval's alert states that LAPD officers arrived at the school at around 4:22 p.m. and conducted an unsuccesful search for the man, described as standing 5 feet 10 inches, weighing between 170-180 pounds, with dark, short hair and a fair complexion. He was wearing a white T-shirt, light blue jeans and black shoes, according to witnesses.

Naval wrote that she would "work with the school staff and LAPD to ensure our students remain safe in a secure environment."

This is the second report of a lewd act near a school in Highland Park in the last 10 days.

On Friday, Sept. 30, students reported seeing a man in a silver car engaged in a lewd act outside just after noon.

Officers at LAPD's sex crimes desk could not be reached to comment on whether the two incidents were related. Check back tomorrow as we continue to cover this developing story.
