LAPD Seeks SUV Driven by Suspects in Cypress Park Shooting

Officials say there could be up to five suspects inside vehicle.

Los Angeles Police Department officers are currently searching for up to five suspects involved in a shooting that took place at the interesection of Cypress Avenue and North Figueroa Street in Cypress Park Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the suspects fired shots at a pair of males at around 5 p.m. and then drove westbound on Cypress in an older model, burgundy colored GMC Yukon.

Officials say there could be up to five suspects inside the vehicle.

Sgt. Stacey Kuntch of LAPD Northeast Division told Highland Park-Mount Washington Patch that the two victims were both struck in the leg and are now recovering at an area hospital. Their injuries do not appear to be life threatening, Kuntch said.

Kuntch said police had yet to determine whether the shooting were related to any of Northeast L.A.'s gangs.

"We don't have any information on the victims yet to be able to determine if this was a gang related shooting, but it's always a possibility," Kuntch said. "It just appears to be your garden variety drive-by. Fortunately the shooters don't know how to shoot."
