The police is seeking information from the public about the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

Detectives from the Northeast Community Station of the Los Angeles Police Department are seeking information from the public that might help in determining the circumstances under which a man was found shot to death in Highland Park Tuesday.

As of Wednesday evening, the LAPD released no details about the fatal incident except for the name and age of the victim. Sgt. Christopher Gomez, a watch commander at the Northeast station, identified him as Ernesto Ramirez, a 21-year-old man whose wounded body was found at or near 5747 1/2 Benner Street, a leafy residential area whose nearest cross street is Avenue 75, which leads to the 110 freeway.

Anyone who has information about the incident is urged to call LAPD Northeast homicide Det. Dicroce (pronounced Dee-Croach) or Det. Yamada at (323) 344-5744 or the watch commander on duty at (323) 344-5701. Anonymous tips may also be left at the LAPD's 24-hour anonymous tips hotline at (877) 527-3247.
