LAPD Investigating Sexual Assault Reported in Garvanza

Suspect does not appear to be a threat to the neighborhood at large, said LAPD Detective Shon Wells.

Detective Shon Wells of LAPD Northeast Division's Sex Crimes Unit said the department is currently investigating a rape that was reported on Friday, Sept. 30 on North Ave. 65.

According to CrimeMapping.com, the sexual assault occurred at around 3:00 a.m. near the 800 block of N. Ave. 65.

"We're currently investigating and hope to have the investigation completed by the end of the week," Wells said.

Wells told Highland Park-Mount Washington Patch that the reported rape appeared to be "an acquaintance issue."

"The doesn't appear to be any danger to the community in terms of a suspect being on the loose," Wells said. "The neighborhood doesn't have anything to worry about on this one."
