Detectives Release Name of Cypress Park Shooting Victim

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

Henry Keola Kaiwi, 33, was pronounced dead at 2616 Idell St. in Cypress Park Tuesday morning after being fatally wounded by a unknown shooter.

According to LAPD Homicide Detective M. Miyakawa, patrol officers responded to the scene of the shooting at approximately 7:50 a.m.

"The victim was down at the location, and pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics," Miyakawa said.

As of Wednesday morning, Miyakawa said LAPD had scant details about the shooter, beyond that he was a man in his 30s.

"We're very new into the investigation," Miyakawa. "We're asking anyone in the community with information to come forward."

Those with information are asked to contact LAPD Homicide Detectives at 323-344-5744. Tips can be left anonymously.

I doubt if any witnesses show up.

We've been trying to notify the victim's mom, but no one seems to know how to reach her. A person close to the scene believes the mother of the victim's children is being held for questioning. The detectives didn't even know that the couple lived right across the street from the crime scene! No one in that building wants to talk, and who can blame them? Fear...

whatever henry was up to, he didnt deserve this. I hope that his girlfriend wasnt involved. i knew Henry long ago when he was with his first daughter's mom. Lone Wolf yes, that is a good description for him. Very sad and unnecessary indeed.

henry once lived in that bldg but they got evicted and moved across the street which didnt make a diffrence as he would go across the street anyway because there was always drugs and alchohol and 1 or 2 armed gangmembers.with illegals drinking day and night.its not a surprise about the homicide in that block to me its a surprise it happened to him because he wasnt in a gang and he didnt even have a gun.word was over the 4yrs he lived there he beat up a couple of alchoholic drinkers and drug fiends always there for stupid arguments here and there and was an addict.but no matter what rest in peace henry and i hope justice is served
