Detectives Release Name of Cypress Park Shooting Victim

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

Henry Keola Kaiwi, 33, was pronounced dead at 2616 Idell St. in Cypress Park Tuesday morning after being fatally wounded by a unknown shooter.

According to LAPD Homicide Detective M. Miyakawa, patrol officers responded to the scene of the shooting at approximately 7:50 a.m.

"The victim was down at the location, and pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics," Miyakawa said.

As of Wednesday morning, Miyakawa said LAPD had scant details about the shooter, beyond that he was a man in his 30s.

"We're very new into the investigation," Miyakawa. "We're asking anyone in the community with information to come forward."
